{"id":618,"date":"2016-02-29T09:50:13","date_gmt":"2016-02-29T15:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/night-scenes.com\/?p=618"},"modified":"2016-02-29T09:50:13","modified_gmt":"2016-02-29T15:50:13","slug":"texas-hoa-lighting-by-nightscenes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/night-scenes.com\/2016\/02\/29\/texas-hoa-lighting-by-nightscenes\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas HOA Lighting by NightScenes"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Texas HOA lighting can be done very well with low voltage LED landscape lighting<\/h2>\n<p>We have been lighting entries to developments in central Texas for several years.\u00a0 We have always used low voltage lighting in our designs and wouldn\u2019t even consider the use of high voltage lighting.\u00a0 We also would never even think about using old technology like mercury vapor or metal halide lighting.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1836\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1836\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/night-scenes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/Night-Scenes-Final-Edit-1.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1836 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/night-scenes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/Night-Scenes-Final-Edit-1-300x200.jpg?resize=300%2C200\" alt=\"Texas HOA lighting\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1836\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Escondido Texas Entry in Horseshoe Bay<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I am still seeing mercury vapor lighting being installed at residences and developments in the Austin area.\u00a0 I really don\u2019t know how these installation companies are doing this since mercury vapor lighting has been outlawed in the U.S. for quite a few years now.\u00a0 We can no longer get the ballasts for these lights and lamps are getting harder and harder to find.\u00a0 They\u2019re also getting to be very expensive.<br \/>\nWhat really bothers me is that the ones paying for this lighting now are not only paying a lot for the system, they are also going to pay more every month in energy use.\u00a0 They\u2019ll end up spending even more later to maintain the system as lamps go out and then, if a ballast goes bad, how are they going to replace that?\u00a0 They\u2019ll end up having to trash the whole thing and start over. Or, as some have done, use a less efficient Metal Halide ballast to energize the Mercury Vapor lights.
