Austin’s Certified Landscape Lighting Technicians
Last month our design and installation team attended the annual Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals’ conference, certification exam and expo. We’re proud to say that we now have more AOLP certified landscape lighting technicians than any other landscape lighting company in the country.
The certification exam is in eight parts: one written including 130 questions; and seven hands-on specialty sections about maintenance, transformers, lamps, installation, troubleshooting, design and voltage drop. The technician must score at least 80% on every section to gain their certification.
This exam is not for the faint of heart, and most of us (including me!) have failed it at least once and had to repeat a couple sections or even retake the entire test because we failed more than three sections. Our two technicians that took the exam last week passed it on the first try! I’m so proud of them!
Of course, to pass this exam a technician must put in the study time and know what they are doing in the field. We allow our technicians the time needed to do that studying because we want our team to be the best in central Texas and the country. They also get plenty of hands on experience here in central Texas as well.
The AOLP is a not-for-profit national trade association and the exam integrates products from many different lighting manufacturers to insure that the technicians know how to work on products other than those that they may install on a regular basis. There are several manufacturers in our industry that will give a “certificate” to people who attend their one day seminar on landscape lighting, but this is not the same as the AOLP certification.
We hope that by obtaining the AOLP certifications, we are giving our clients some peace of mind in knowing that their outdoor lighting system is being installed, maintained or repaired by technicians who really know what they are doing. Our team is setting the bar of excellence pretty high for our competitors. When your lighting team is this well trained and sticks to the AOLP standards of installation, it makes it very easy to stand behind your work — which we do.
Our team has over 30 years of combined outdoor lighting experience and we would love to put that experience to work for you to enhance your home or business. We serve the entire Austin and Hill Country area so contact us here and let’s get started.
