NightScenes Wins Another Landscape Lighting Award
It is awards season, everyone! I watched the Academy Awards on Sunday night along with about a billion other people around the world, and now there are a few more movies on my list to see because I know that films winning awards are always pretty impressive.
The entertainment field, although the most publicized, isn’t the only industry that awards special attention to the work of its members. Communities far and wide love to honor their local stand-out businesses; and many trades also have ways to bestow special acknowledgment for exceptional results. Most of us would agree that any effort that receives the “thumbs up” from peers or the public is usually worth checking out.
The outdoor lighting industry also has several opportunities for design work to be recognized for excellence. So far this year we are proud to report that we have received a couple of awards. First, we received the Houzz.com ‘Best of’ Award for Service — which was completely unexpected! Heck, we didn’t even know we were in the running! We are grateful to their audience for this recognition. Then at the annual conference of the Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals last week we received the Award of Merit for Outdoor Living Space landscape lighting award! This is an award for best lighting design in an outdoor living space. What I really love about this particular award is that the design was for a wonderful hill country couple who spend the vast majority of their evening time in their outdoor rooms. Creating a soothing and relaxed nighttime lighting design, and then knowing that the client really enjoys their time in that space is an incredibly satisfying feeling.
What’s also really cool about the AOLP awards is that they are voted on by our peers – professionals in the outdoor lighting industry from the United States and Canada. Knowing that these other great outdoor lighting designers (many of them also award winners) thought our work was worthy of an award is humbling for sure.
