Unique landscape lighting fixtures add style
Although it seems sometimes that the majority of humans enjoy being part a crowd, the truth is that we really aren’t anything at all like lemmings, sheep or fish. We each have a voice of our own and prefer to make our own way as individuals and not as copycats in everything just like the person next to us. We all have different senses of style or design. We each tend to look at things differently. I guess we’re all unique, and crave the specialness that sets us apart as singular souls. We all want the same thing – to be different!
So if we are each unique, and each have diverse opinions on what we like and don’t like, why are so many outdoor lighting systems so “cookie cutter” in appearance? An average lighting system will put in five plain “china hat” style path lights along the walkway, and five more boring “bullet” type fixtures shining on the front façade of the house. Some installers call that done and move on to do the same thing at the next house. Not much creativity there, huh? Nothing that expresses the unique personality of the owner.
While it is normal to want most outdoor lighting fixtures to blend into the landscape, the design could be massively elevated with an interesting and unique landscape lighting fixture. What if there was a rugged 3’ tall rusty steel bollard fixture in a flowerbed that produced a dappled light pattern onto the bed to accent the flowers? Hmmm, that could be exceptional! Or maybe a hanging fixture in a tree that has a lot of pin holes in it that shine light out in little spots? The variety and choice of feature fixtures is quite expansive. The point to be made here is that a simple addition of a specialty fixture can become a piece of art. A focal point in the landscape. A little something distinctive from the utilitarian fixtures that are being used for certain tasks.
