At NightScenes, we’ve always been proud of the fact that we do one thing and do it very well. We never entertained the idea of installing landscapes or irrigation systems. We don’t want to build outdoor kitchens, and water features would leave us feeling all wet. We do, however, illuminate all of these things, gladly!
Most of our readers may not be aware that in my life before I discovered landscape lighting design, I made my living as a disc jockey. And my son, Paul Jr., also has a history as a DJ. Yes, we have both been in the business of spinning vinyl (me mostly) and CDs. We both have a certain passion for music to go along with our passion for lights. Big surprise here right – lights and sound? They kind of go together like peanut butter and jelly or cookies and milk. So it wasn’t a big leap for us to consider how we could link those two recreational outdoor features.
We have been researching outdoor sound systems for quite some time, and recently found a landscape sound system that we thought could satisfy our very particular tastes. First we wanted a truly superior sound quality; and then we wanted the components to disappear into the landscape. I’ve never been a big fan of the “rock speakers” that look like artificial rocks. We believe it would make a lot more sense for speakers to look like an outdoor light fixture that becomes invisible in the landscape.
We finally found both of those critical elements in a high quality system we call BRILLIANT SOUND. We now offer installation of BRILLIANT SOUND as an added service here in the greater Austin and hill country area. This amazing sound system includes eight speakers, strategically placed, and a buried sub-woofer to surround the average back yard in wonderful sound. This is much better than having two speakers on the back porch where the volume must be blasting out into the yard – and into the yards of every neighbor on your block. Using the 8-speaker Brilliant Sound system means that your music can be much more contained to your own space, and the volume settings considerably softer and better balanced throughout the entertainment area.
We don’t use regular wimpy speaker wire either, we use heavier duty 14 gauge direct bury lighting cable for the speakers. This type of wire works even better and holds up extremely well under ground!
Paul Jr. and I felt that incorporating high quality sound systems into our lighting business was really a marriage made in heaven. Sound and lights from guys who have always appreciated both. Imagine your senses going crazy with the grill going, a refreshing beverage in hand, your favorite music playing and the beautiful backdrop of landscape lighting all working together to create a wonderful backyard oasis. Now that’s what I call living the premium Texas lifestyle!
