The most requested project we get is for the lighting of trees. Here in central Texas we are blessed with all types of oak trees including live oaks, red oaks, white oaks, Spanish oaks, etc. We also have cedar elms, crape myrtles, magnolias and many other types of magnificent trees and they all can look really beautiful with the proper lighting.
But the type and placement of the lighting isn’t the only thing that needs to be addressed. Most of the time, the trees in question need some pruning as well so the lighting can really stand out. Maybe the tree has a lot of interior growth, and by cleaning it out a little, the light can shine all the way up to the top of the canopy. This clean-out can also help in down lighting, allowing the light to shine through the larger limbs to create an almost magical moon lighting effect below the tree. This also limits any hot spots of light in the canopy.
Sometimes trees need to be pruned to show off their structure or to promote proper growth. This is a good thing for the tree in question, but it also makes the tree look a lot better, both during the day and at night.
One of our team members came to us from a tree trimming company and he does a very good job of making the trees that we accent look terrific — day and night. Most of our projects require at least a little tree pruning to set the design off, and we are glad to do it.
If you are in the greater Austin or hill country area and have some wonderful trees that you would like properly accented, contact us here.
